Nos_quintais_do_Samba_Livro_Olhares Beginning the series of publications of the Afrodigital Museum Rio de Janeiro in the year 2015, we carried out with the support of FAPERJ, through the Program “Support for the Production and Publication of Books and DVDs Aiming at the Celebration of the 450 Years of the City of Rio de Janeiro – 2014 “, the publication of the book In the backyards of the samba of Grande Madureira: images of yesterday and today .
The book draws a parallel between the practices and traditions related to the origins of samba in the Grande Madureira and its presence in the present time. It contains five articles that investigate the ways in which this identity is perpetuated in the region, from a fundamental theme, the backyards, spaces of sociability, memory maintenance and affirmation of Afro-Brazilian cultural traditions, where party, religion, samba and mix. The quintals express the relation between the public and private spaces in the houses of Afrodescendants that arrived at the city.
